Her fur was the color of an iceberg-- and I do mean fur. No matter how many times I meet an Apex, the amount of hair on their bodies blows me away. Thankfully they make a point to stay clothed, but I've caught them at pools and beaches. Once you see bodies with that much hair, it's hard to view a clothed Apex in the same way again.
I digress. In any case, she was sensible in keeping things covered. An all-white officer's uniform, complete with a cape draped over her shoulders, left nothing but her sideburned face and fuzzy hands out in the open. She kept the hair on her head tied back... which for some reason was the least surprising thing about her. She stood proud and upright, much like Big Ape himself, and spoke as though she were giving out orders.
"Good evening," she said. And even that felt like an order.
"Evening," I said back. I could feel my body tense up at the sight of her. What was she here for, some kind of audit? On a Hylotl planet?
"I'm an officer of the Miniknog," she explained as she approached the seat in front of my desk, "I'm looking to expose information on the inner workings of Big Ape."
Oh?
"Oh?" I blurted.
She nodded. I thought about telling her to sit, but she was probably standing for a good reason. I rose slowly.
"Let's talk outside," I said.
